Sean Maher, Bar Manager
Part mixologist, part history buff, part therapist. Chances are, you already know Sean Maher, as he has been a fixture in the North Shore bar scene for quite some time. Sean always had a passion for spirits, food and classic cocktails. He coupled this passion with his interest in history and architecture, which eventually led him to obtain a master's degree in Historic Preservation from Boston University.
At Tryst, a local favorite, Sean used his bar knowledge, experience and creativity to create the first craft cocktail menu north of Boston. Sean continued honing his cocktail craft in Boston and had a stint tending bar at both Chez Henri and Eastern Standard where he learned how to create an eclectic bar program. After feeling a natural pull back toward the North Shore, Sean worked at numerous local watering holes including The Wild Horse Cafe and Barrel House American Bar.
After joining the Ledger team, it didn't take Sean long to revamp the bar program, adding his own personal "twist", and continue our success as one of the best bars in the North Shore. From homemade syrups to infusions, Sean is continuously creating new cocktails and mocktails, allowing us to have a rotating menu that gives guests a wide variety to sip from whenever they come in. He has also featured in the NSM as one of the 'Top Mixologists' on the North Shore, and we don't disagree!
When Sean is not bartending, or building us a patio, or refinishing our tables, he is most likely spending time with his beautiful, talented wife Karla and their sweet dog. It is also very possible you might see him at another local restaurant enjoying a cold Bourbon and a quiet book. Sean keeps us all on our toes and is known to leave behind a sassy note or if you're really lucky, a nice, warm Smirnoff Ice. Sean also likes his drinks like he likes his humor... dry.
